Methodology and sources
The source population is the 7,038 built-up places in the Postcodes UK towns list with a recorded elevation. Rows are ordered from highest to lowest elevation, then by place name for deterministic tie-breaking. The highest recorded value is 437 metres and the 1,000th-ranked place is 137 metres.
