Which Constituency Am I In?
The UK is divided into Westminster parliamentary constituencies, each electing one Member of Parliament to the House of Commons. Your constituency decides whose name is on your ballot at a general election and which MP represents you. Because constituency boundaries do not follow council or county lines, the only reliable way to know yours is by postcode, which is exactly what this tool does.
How It Works
Enter any UK postcode and we return the parliamentary constituency it falls in, along with the local authority, region and country for context. The data covers all four nations of the UK, so it works for constituencies in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland alike.
Constituencies Are Not Councils
It is easy to confuse your parliamentary constituency with your local council, but they are different things. The council, your local authority, runs everyday services like bins, schools and planning. The constituency is purely about national politics and your representation in Parliament. The two often share a name but rarely share exactly the same boundary, and a single council area can contain several constituencies.
Why Boundaries Change
Constituency boundaries are reviewed periodically to keep the number of voters in each one roughly equal as populations shift. That means the constituency covering your postcode can change between elections, sometimes taking on a new name or merging with a neighbour. Checking by postcode is the surest way to know where you stand right now.
