How your postcode becomes cloth

No random seed, nothing stored: the threads come straight out of the postcode, so the same one always weaves the same tartan. Read the full method.

01 · BINARY
The postcode becomes bits. Each letter and number turns into the 0s and 1s a computer already sees.
02 · THREADS
The bits choose the threads.Runs of the binary set each stripe's colour and width, mirrored into a symmetric sett.
03 · REGION
The place sets the palette.Highland greens, London claret, Welsh red, so your tartan looks like where it is from.

Make it real: the weaving spec

Everything a printer, weaver or wallpaper maker needs to reproduce your tartan exactly. The SVG download prints and tiles crisply at any size; the thread count is for having it woven.
