Methodology and sources
The source population is the 7,038 built-up places in the Postcodes UK towns list with a recorded elevation. Rows are ordered by absolute distance from zero metres, then by elevation and place name for deterministic tie-breaking. The 1,000th place is 14 metres from sea level.
